The #1 Natural Mascara on the Internet Has Been Hiding at Sephora
We shudder to think of a world without mascara. Our trusty wands have been with us through thick and thin, always there to lift our spirits (and lashes) whenever we need a boost. But here’s a scary thought—the same inky formulas that take your lashes to sky-high heights may also be filled with irritating and potentially harmful ingredients like parabens, polybutene (a petroleum derivative), and tons of synthetic colors and dyes. In fact, chances are that reading the ingredient list for most mascaras might feel like trying to decipher a foreign language.
If your eyes are easily irritated, or if you’re just curious about more natural alternatives, we teamed up with Rank & Style to bring you the five best natural mascaras on the market. Full disclosure: They’re not all 100% organic or Ecocert (a European organic certification organization—basically, any product that’s Ecocert has to meet a super-rigorous round of qualifications), but they are all-natural and free of harmful chemicals.

Kjaer Weis Black Mascara ($38)
We already named this makeup line as an all-natural line to try, but the mascara especially stands out as a hero product. Formulated with soothing lavender flower water, jojoba seed oil, and rose flower oil, it conditions your lashes, glides on easily, and applies precisely and clump-free. Plus, it has a rubberized wand for easy application!
bareMinerals Flawless Definition Mascara ($19)
It's hard to find an all natural waterproof mascara that doesn't smudge or flake, but BareMinerals has created exactly what we were looking for. Not only does this mascara get four-and-a-half stars at Nordstrom, but people can't help but sing its praises. Reviewer Debbie084 says, "I absolutely love this mascara. The tiny wand really does coat every lash, and it does not clump for me at all."
Chantecaille Faux Cils Longest Lash Mascara ($72)
According to our friends at Rank & Style, this $72 mascara is well worth the hefty price tag, as it uses lash-growth peptide technology that instantly makes lashes look fuller and more voluminous. Worried about making the splurge? Don't be; the overall consensus is that this is the "best mascara" or so says Nordstrom reviewer BeautyBeforeComfort.
Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-in-1 Mascara ($21)
Free of parabens, mineral oil, phthalates, and gluten, you wouldn't believe this mascara was of the natural variety as it works just as good, if not better, than other brands—curling, lengthening, conditioning, and volumizing lashes by 330% says Rank & Style.
