Byrdie Loves: 9 Hair Products We Became Obsessed With This Year
To call us hair obsessed at Byrdie HQ might be an understatement, considering the amount of product we slather and spritz in our strands on a daily basis. Our trial and discovery are your gain—we play guinea pig so that we can confidently report on only the best in the industry. On that note, we’ll say this: 2015 was a good year on the hair-product front, and we’ve added quite a few new products to our permanent stash. To see the mane tamers that we fell in love with this year, keep scrolling!
Reverie Nude Shampoo ($38)
We tried our fair share of natural, sulfate- free shampoos this year, and this chicly packaged one from Reverie was our favorite by far. Ingredients like sweet almond nut oil, sandalwood, and jasmine flower oil work together to gently cleanse and balance your scalp. Our editor swears it leaves her oil-prone strands feeling softly cleansed—never dried out. Plus, it smells amazing.
Christophe Robin Cleansing Purifying Scrub With Sea Salt ($52)
A salt scrub… for your scalp? We were dubious too, until we tried this magical product from famed Parisian hairstylist Christophe Robin. Yes, it might feel weird at first to massage a grainy salt paste into your scalp, but you get over it quickly—especially when you rinse it out, and your hair is unbelievably soft and clean. We can’t get enough.
Living Proof PhD 5-in-1 Styling Treatment ($26)
Our natural beauty–loving editor became obsessed with this product even though it isn’t completely natural—it’s that good. She scrunches a liberal amount into wet strands and swears nothing allows her thick waves to air-dry as perfectly and frizz-free. She also loves that it doesn’t feel like there’s product in her hair—just soft, silky strands.
If your thirsty strands are in need of a refresh, try this nourishing deep conditioner from Hask, which softens all hair types (but is especially good for curly) and—more importantly—smells like a vacation in a bottle. Our editor applies it at the start of her shower, allows it to sit for 10 minutes, then rinses out at the very end. The result? “Soft locks for days.”
Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo ($22)
We've tried every dry shampoo under the sun at this point—and we definitely have our favorites. A newcomer to our list this year is Amika’s brightly patterned version, which 1) makes us happy just by looking at it and 2) works so well. Our editor loves that there’s absolutely no chalky residue to rub in, but it still manages to instantly soak up excess oil and dirt—all while leaving strands smelling post-shower fresh.
