Born in Paris, Brigitte Bardot trained as a ballerina before turning to modeling, landing the cover of French ELLE in 1950, and catching the eye of director Roger Vadim, who’d both marry the actress and direct her in And God Created Woman. It was that film—and the nearly nude photos she continued to pose for throughout the decade—that made her name synonymous with sex kitten.

You can't be a bombshell without flawless skin! Start with a medium coverage foundation, like Giorgio Armani's Luminous Silk Foundation ($60). Use Sephora's Retractable Kabuki Brush ($18) to contour your cheekbones with Stila's Sun Bronzing Powder ($28)--or any shimmer-free powder one or two shades darker than your natural skin tone.

Score Bardot’s post-coital glow with Nars’ aptly named Blush ($29) in Orgasm. Smile and blend it into the apples of your cheeks just above the cheekbones--it’ll make them appear more defined.

The actress’ cat eye was anything but subtle. Choose a liquid or gel--our current favorite is L’Oreal’s Infallible Super Slim Liquid Eyeliner ($8)--and draw a line about a quarter of an inch past the corner of your eye, pulling it back in and across your lash line. (With a thick line, make sure to let it completely dry before opening your eye so it doesn’t transfer to your lid.)

Use a kohl pencil, like Rimmel’s Soft Kohl Kajal Eye Liner ($4) in Jet Black, for the lower lash line (you want it to smudge). Coat Maybelline The Falsies Mascara ($6) in Blackest Black on the top and bottom lashes. Bardot’s brows looked dark against her light hair, but they weren’t bushy, so use Diorshow Brow Styler Ultra-Fine Precision Brow Pencil ($29) to fill in any holes.

Bardot’s lips were often painted shades of pink and beige, a subtle frame for her sultry eyes. Use Lipstick Queen’s Sinner 90 Percent Pigment ($20) in Pink Sinner or Bare Nude, depending on how much color you want.

It might look like that voluminous, mussed-up hair came from rolling around in la chambre, but it takes serious effort to achieve such height. Work Living Proof’s Full Thickening Mousse ($15) into damp locks and blow-dry with a round brush.

Once dry, spray 2-inch sections of hair with L’Oreal Elnett Hairspray ($15) and wrap them around Hair Tools’ Jumbo Velcro Rollers ($4). Once all of your hair is rolled, wait at least 30 minutes, blow-dry your entire head on the cold setting for a minute, and take out the rollers. Backcomb the hair around the crown, spray, and comb back down toward the crown. Need a visual? Let Sam McKnight show you how!
