Adopt healthy snacking habits by cutting back on greasy foods whenever you get the grumblies during the day. “By choosing a more healthful diet, I have more energy, more patience, and more joy. I have a few go-to snacks that are pretty healthy (an apple, some cashews, etc.) for the moments that I get hungry between meals and want to avoid an easy bag of chips.” Avoiding junk food also helps to clear up your complexion, so it’s double win.
Dry, oily, or combination—the key is to know which products serve your skin best. Starting with a simple but thoughtful routine (five steps or fewer!) can simplify your morning and evening rituals. “Take care of your skin. Clinique recently sent me its new 3-Step Skin Care System, and I use it every day. The full system includes liquid facial soap, clarifying lotion, and the Dramatically Different moisturizing lotion. The lotion is my favorite step because it moisturizes without clogging your pores. It feels amazing!”
Carving out time for exercise isn’t anything new, but what can get old is the kind of workout you’re doing. Madsen likes to stay active by rotating her favorite workouts. “My favorite form of exercise is my Pilates class in downtown L.A. I love the feeling of being pushed really hard and accomplishing a big challenge. Plus, exercise affects everything from your mood to your weight to your self-esteem.”
