Most, correction all, foundation wearers can agree: Finding the perfect match is rarely one and done. There’s typically a lot of trial and error involved. Needless to say, the whole process can be overwhelming, between combing through all the shades and taking the time to test them out. There has to be a more scientific way to go about it, we beauty editors always thought to ourselves. And as it turns out, there is.
Enter bareMinerals’ new Made-2-Fit app. Getting customized foundation has never been so easy! The app uses a special algorithm that analyzes your skin tone! A foundation shade is individually blended and delivered straight to your door, we heard. And of course we had to put it to the test. The verdict? Not even a spoiler, we're just cutting to the chase: It delivers on its promises and then some. Want to see for yourself? We’ve broken down everything you need to know about the app, plus how to use it.
What It Is
In short, the Made-2-Fit app uses a special type of technology that analyzes your skin tone and creates a custom shade of foundation for you. Sure, there have been other shade-matching tools before, but what makes this one unique is that a brand-new foundation is blended for every person. It’s that custom.
How to Use It
After you download the app on your iPhone, it’ll guide you through the entire process. You want to get the most accurate reading of your skin tone, so it’s best if you have a clean face and do each scan in indoor lighting. You’ll start by tapping your phone on a stack of white paper to “calibrate” the camera; then it’ll prompt you to tap your outer wrist and scan your forehead, cheeks, and both sides of your jawline.
That’s it! All that’s left is to purchase your custom bottle of bareMinerals Fresh Faced Liquid Foundation ($49). What’s more, it comes in a custom bottle with your name on it. Oh, and did we mention that it takes as little as three days to arrive at your door? Yeah, we know, our minds are blown too.
More of a use-it-to-believe-it type of person? Make sure to download the app to get the full experience—and your own customized foundation, of course.
