April is retrograde madness. The majority of the planets are going retrograde this month, so be prepared for a deep inward journey of retrospection that will seriously assist you in transforming your life! Retrograde just means that the planet appears to go backward, in its natural orbit as it recedes from the Earth, it's magnetic presence lessens, and we notice it's absence. You're one step ahead if you take a beat and look at yourself as the root of your problems instead of blaming circumstance or others. Read below for your sign/rising sign if you know it.
The planet of love and harmony, Venus has been retrograde March 4–April 15. This will get you to rethink your relationships. Notice how many people have "broken up" around you lately, or maybe this applies to you directly. Why? It's about self-love, and when we love ourselves things fall to the wayside. This is a good thing; however, things become somewhat clearer after April 15.
The communication planet, Mercury is retrograde: April 9–May 3. The Basics: Don't sign, buy, or start anything significant or new. Redo, rethink, revisit the past to tie up loose ends, and schedule ample lag time, expect delays related to communication, travel, and transits. If you don't understand something, ask. We've forgotten how to do that.
Saturn, the timekeeper goes retrograde on Thursday, April 6–August 21. It's time to get real about how you've been living your life because this one (Saturn Retrograde) can kick your butt big time if you aren't honest with yourself.
April 11, Full Moon—Libra. Let go of people-pleasing tendencies. Be direct. Have faith.
April 26, New Moon—Taurus. Nurture your dreams, think quality, think sensual. When we nurture our dreams, good things happen.
ARIES: Happy Birthday!! In case you didn't already know, you're the first sign in the astrology wheel, signifying a hefty dose of will, which is something to be proud of, really. April is focused on your self-worth and as shallow as it sounds, your looks depend on it. Kidding, kind of. It's safe to say that you've been doing some soul-searching lately (in March); specifically in regard to the way you present yourself. Your relationship to your image has altered for the best, and that change has likely spiked your self-confidence. When you feel good, you tend to spend less money. In April you'll make a little extra money. I suggest saving it, at least until the New Moon in Taurus on April 26. Invest in yourself this month.
After April 5, things get even juicier. Enjoy!
Your beauty product: A balancing oil, like Uma Pure Calm Wellness Oil ($85), will remind you of the good around you.
TAURUS: This month, focus on achieving a natural balance. The quality of your ruling planet, Venus—which pertains to makeup, beauty, nature, basically all that stuff that you are pretty much an expert at—has been retrograde since March 4. This means that things haven't felt so quality to you. In fact, you've probably been questioning a lot and finding that the only thing you've been sure about is your beauty routine, and even that's changed a bit. You want more, more natural ingredients, purer, better quality. Desiring these changes haven't just been about your products—it's also been about cultivating more balance spiritually and physically. The key to a feeling beautiful is about consumption, faith, rest, and how much we care for ourselves, and you know that it's just a matter of devising a routine; luckily this Mercury Retrograde will help you out.
Your beauty product: An all-natural mask, like May Lindstrom Skin Problem Solver ($100), will help you feel more beautiful and centered.
GEMINI: This month, focus on everyone else. Things might feel slow, especially for a speedy sign like you, who's ruled by the planet Mercury—which is about to go retrograde—but here's how it plays out. First, it might feel like people are lagging and seriously getting in your way, holding you back somehow. The solution: to meditate and breathe. Don't overthink things. This is out of your control. Things shift after April 12, and you'll have a ton more energy and feel more positive, just don't try to make up for last time. We still have a few planets retrograde, and if you push things forward too much, they'll backfire. Take it easy, and focus on the simple things. Mid-month you'll want to say yes to every invitation, missing information reveals itself, and it will come through unlikely sources. Stay open, and pay particular attention to your dreams.
Your beauty product: Aromatherapy Associates Lavender Bath & Shower Oil ($73) will calm and relax you.
CANCER: This month, focus on skills, both social and intellectual. Fortunately for you, this won't be completely terrible. Venus retrograde was making some pretty difficult aspects to your Sun, getting you to love yourself more deeply and engage less in power struggles. So hopefully, you got the memo, just in case you missed it. You'll get a second chance during this month, with all the planets going retrograde to work it out. Strengthening your skills set and valuing yourself will help you more than anything. From where I'm sitting, this is the path in front of you. Have faith and trust in yourself, and you'll be golden. Own your space, or someone else will. The good news is that your home situation after April 11 will feel smoother.
Your beauty product: Try a strong, confidence-building scent, like Vilhelm Parfumerie Dirty Velvet ($245), which has notes of tobacco.
LEO: Let's face it, things haven't been as fun as you'd like them to be, and it seems as though every trip you try to plan isn't panning out, or maybe it's that you've been your worst enemy. Work is important of course, especially when your income sustains you—but follow my logic here. Mercury is about to go retrograde, and for you, that means you'll be rethinking if your job and the way that you've been approaching things, and you'll find that you can actually have fun and work hard too, you've just forgotten how. This Mercury and Saturn retrograde will inspire you to learn and to expand your horizons even more. Stay open, and have fun when you can. It's like that saying, "a watched pot never boils." When you push for things that aren't budging, it can be frustrating, but the best remedy is to stay open.
Your beauty product: Lancôme Juicy Shaker ($22) will inspire your inner child.
VIRGO: It's all about perspective. It's normal for your life to feel a little out of balance right now; In fact, if you were to tell us that everything was going smoothly, I'd be surprised. For a micromanager such as yourself, I understand that it's been a little frustrating. This Mercury Retrograde paired with Saturn Retrograde will actually be an opportunity to think about how you're managing everything, especially your finances. It's time to invest in your home and in yourself a little more. Sure, when we get busy we don't have time to do anything else, I get it, but you'll need to. Right now it's about as quiet as it's going to get until April 12 when Mars (energy and momentum) changes pace, and Venus stops going retrograde. If anyone needs a little TLC, it's you and your home right now.
Your beauty product: Pursoma Digital Detox ($34) is cleansing, balancing, and it will help inspire better self-care.
LIBRA: Mind over matter. Last month you learned how to love yourself—congratulations! This month, focus intently on your thoughts. They're powerful, and they have the ability to shape your reality, quite literally. Try a different approach. Experience plays a big part in how you think, but I think that we can safely say that you've had your share of growth spurts since September (September 9, to be exact). Those experiences that have brought about the changes you've been experiencing have changed your outlook on life; so while you may have a fresh perspective, it's time to put it into action—practice makes perfect, right? At least that's what they say. I think in your case, this month it's true.
Your beauty product: A rose-scented product, like Chantecaille Rose de Mai Body Oil ($95), will help soothe and calm your overactive mind.
SCORPIO: Now is no better time to focus on authenticity. We can safely say that you, Scorpio, value authenticity, or are at least are allergic to doing anything that you don't feel like doing, and in that respect, we can say that you are pretty authentic. This month, while Saturn and Mercury roll backward, you'll need to reevaluate what's important to you, and how you spend your time. Trust your intuition, even if it means that you'll have to initiate more uncomfortable conversations that may make you feel vulnerable—at least you're being true to yourself.
Your beauty product: You need something stimulating and circulating, like Frank Body Creamy Face Scrub ($22), which is made with real coffee grounds.
SAGITTARIUS: This month, it's all about redefining. It's your last chance to solidify all the deep changes that you've employed over the last two years. When Saturn graces your chart like it is now (retrograde), it's about seizing the opportunity to make things real. What things might you ask? Your outlook on life. Make it known, and take the necessary steps to live out your personal life philosophies honestly. Enforce appropriate boundaries where there haven't been any, and last but not least (really this is first) take care of your body, as it's the only one you've got. When Venus goes direct on April 15 (give it a week or so after), things should feel less heavy and more exciting.
Your beauty product: S.W. Basics Lemon Functional Fragrance ($12) will lift your spirits with one sniff.
CAPRICORN: It's time for some deep cleaning. You happen to be ruled by the planet Saturn, one of the planets going retrograde this month, which means that your momentum might feel depleted—it's okay, there's a reason, I promise. You'll need to do some subconscious excavating this month, and look deep within your psyche. Fears are simply hurdles, and most of them are only imagined. You're the captain of your ship, and no one knows you better than you know yourself—take the time to reflect and look honestly at what kind of subconscious thoughts and feelings have been holding you back from moving forward. It's worth exploring, I promise you. Easy ways to access your inner thoughts are, and take the time to listen to them.
Your beauty product: L'Occitane Aromachologie Relaxing Pillow Mist ($20).
AQUARIUS: This is the month to focus on the essentials. We tend to accumulate friends throughout our lives, but as we grow and change we don't always see eye to eye, and sometimes we need to be clear about where we stand. Saturn and Mercury retrograde are supporting you in recalibrating your energy. You give a lot, but you're needing to reserve some of your energy for bigger things. Travel and higher learning should be your priority right now. Travel energizes you and expands your inventive mind. Unfortunately, being non-discriminate will only exhaust you right now. Think about what you need most right now and communicate that clearly.
Your beauty product: Caolion Pore Glowing Moisture Stick ($16) has a cooling effect wherever you swipe it, and it is all you need.
PISCES: What is your purpose? You hate to be tied down, Pisces, and to be under someone else's thumb while working is typically not showcasing your best talents, which can create a whole slew of problems, like you feeling under-appreciated for example. You'll need to realistically reevaluate your career and resources this month. Where are you investing your time and energy, and are you utilizing all that you've accomplished so far to build a more secure future for yourself? These are all things to think about in April. When Venus wakes up on April 15, you'll know exactly how to spend your time and money, and if you've done the work, then good things await you.
Your beauty product: A shimmery product, like Benefit Dandelion Twinkle ($29), will illuminate and encourage you on your path.
