A Close-Up Look at Fashion Month's Best Runway Nails
Nail artist Naomi Yasuda added blue squiggles of acrylic paint over Estee Lauder’s Nail Lacquer ($20) in Blue Blood at Opening Ceremony’s first runway show. You don’t have to hit an art supply store to get the look; just pick up Essie’s Nail Polish ($8) in Avenue Maintain and Sephora’s Nail Art Set ($10).
It took over 4,000 crystals to decorate the nails at Marc Jacobs’ show, which nail artists set in place with the brand’s Enamored Hi-Shine Nail Lacquer ($18) in Bark! (out this fall).
Models’ white nails were topped with teeny-tiny black polka dots at Charlotte Ronson. Pick up So Easy’s Double Up Detailing and Dotting Nail Brush ($6) and black polish to get the look.
While you’ve got a nail brush handy you can also master the look from Tibi. Nail artist Jin Soon painted black horizontal and vertical stripes over models’ nails.
At Zac Posen, key manicurist Gina Edwards used Morgan Taylor’s Nail Polish ($5) in Coming Up Roses at the base of models’ nails, fading it into the shade Polished Up at the tip.
Nail artists painted a half moon onto models’ nails at Peter Som using Zoya’s Nail Polish ($8) in the forthcoming shades Edie and Alexa, but you can get a similar look now with the colors Wednesday and Rocky.
Another update on the French manicure, models at Holmes and Yang got nude nails with a navy, slanted tip courtesy of OPI’s Nail Polish ($9) in I Saw…U Saw..We Saw Warsaw.
Nail artist Marian Newman used M.A.C.’s Nail Lacquer ($16) in Delicate as a base to apply black and silver crystals to models’ nails backstage at Giles.
It’s not too late to score the limited edition polishes from Burberry’s runway show! The set includes Pale Grape, Sage Green, Rose Pink, Mink, Pale Yellow, and Dusky Mauve.
The half moon is officially making a comeback. Nail artists kept nails bare at Milly, but painted a half circle at the base of models’ nails using a bright white polish.
The rose gold hue on models’ fingers at 3.1 Phillip Lim came courtesy of Nars’ Rose Gold polish from the Pierre Hardy for Nars Easy Walking Set ($29).
Break out the black! Models sported long, rounded nails coated in unexpected shiny black polish at Jeremy Scott’s show. Get the look with Essie’s Nail Polish ($8) in Licorice.
Although not the most attainable, models rocked long, beige-colored talons at DSquared2’s show. Try gel extensions if you’re craving that kind of length.
Into color blocking? Add a small square of yellow polish on the tips of your nude manicure to get Christian Siriano’s runway look. Pick up Sally Hansen’s Hard As Nails Nail Color ($3) in Mellow Yellow.
